Small Round Nose Scraper - Unhandled

  • The small nose round scraper is perfect for adding little details to your turnings.
  • The stock is 1/4″ thick and 1/2″ wide.
  • Grind it at at a 7.5 degree angle to raise a slight burr on the top surface.

Large Round Nose Scraper - Unhandled

  • The traditional large round nosed bowl scraper is made of nitrided premium high speed steel and measures 1” across and 5/16 thick.
  • The bottom edges are radiused so that you can tip it at an angle for even more effective cutting.

Large Negative Rake Scraper - Unhandled

  • The large negative rake scraper is made of premium Nitrided High Speed Steel and measures 1” across and 5/16 thick.
  • The bottom edges are radiused so that you can tip it at an angle for even more effective cutting.
  • Sharpening just the bottom bevel maintains the nitriding on the top edge. Over time, you may eventually remove the top bevel and need to regrind it to maintain the negative rake
  • Just remember, there is premium heat treated high speeds steel under the nitriding, so you will still have a superior tool.

  • Robust offers a variety of scrapers, including traditional round nose scrapers, negative rake scrapers, a box scraper and several spear point scrapers.  These tools are manufactured by us using premium high speed steel and given theirr proprietary Nitridingtreatment after heat treatment to 62-64 Rockwell C.
  • To retain the Nitrided surface, just grind the bottom bevel of the scraper.  This leaves the Nitriding on the top surface, so the burr is Nitrided.  You’ll also like the radius on the corners of our tools, as this makes them more versatile for shear cuts.
  • The rectangular tangs of the unhandled skews also fit their collet based handle system.
